Screen time, earned

Walk more. Play more.

Kids earn screen time by walking. You set a daily step goal and the most time it can earn; their iPhone counts the steps and Screen Time keeps the rest honest.

How it works

Two steps, then play.

Set it up together once. After that, walking does the work.

  1. 1

    Set the goal

Pick a daily step goal and the most screen time it can earn. Each kid gets their own.

  2. 2

    Pair their iPhone

PEP Kids scans a code from your phone. No email or password for your kid.

  3. 3

    Walk to earn

Minutes build up with every step. Halfway to the goal is half the time.

  4. 4

    Play, then go outside

The apps you choose lock when earned time runs out. Walked past the goal? Cash in the extra steps for more.

By default 8,000 steps 60 minutes You choose both numbers, from 1,000 to 30,000 steps and 5 minutes to 8 hours.

Privacy

Made for kids, so it keeps almost nothing.

PEP needs a first name, a step count and minutes used. That's it.

  • First name only

A kid's profile is the first name you type. No photo, birthday, email or password.

  • No ads, no tracking

No analytics, no ad networks, and nothing sold or shared.

  • Apps stay private

Screen Time keeps app choices on the iPhone as private tokens. We never learn which apps your kid uses.

FAQ

Questions parents ask.

Does my kid need their own iPhone?

PEP Kids runs on your kid's iPhone, where it counts steps and limits apps through Screen Time. No phone of their own? Hand over yours from PEP, with a timer and only the apps you choose.

What happens when time runs out?

The apps you chose show a screen saying time's up. If your kid walked past their step goal, they can cash in those extra steps for more minutes, and you approve, decline or change the amount from your phone.

Approved minutes are added to today's time straight away. Extra steps that aren't cashed in expire at midnight.

Can my kid get around it?

Limits are enforced by Apple's Screen Time, and changing PEP's settings on your kid's phone needs your grown-up PIN.

Does it work on iPad?

Yes, both apps run on iPad. An iPad can't count steps itself, so PEP Kids on iPad only knows the steps Health has from another device.

Can two parents share a family?

Yes. In PEP, open Settings and invite another parent. They get a link to join, and you both see every kid and answer requests.

How do I delete our data?

In PEP, open Settings and tap Delete Account. If you're the only parent, that deletes the whole family, including every kid's record. More about your data.
