Privacy Policy

PEP is made for kids, so it collects as little as it can. Here is everything it keeps, why, and how to delete it.

Updated October 20, 2026

The short version

  • A kid's profile is a first name that a parent types. No photo, birthday, email address or password.
  • PEP stores a kid's daily step total and minutes used on the apps you limit, because that is how the app works.
  • No ads, no analytics, no tracking. Nothing is sold or shared with advertisers.
  • Which apps a kid uses stays on their iPhone. Apple's Screen Time hands PEP private tokens that we can't read.
  • You can delete everything from the app at any time.

Who we are

Play Earns Play ("PEP", "we") makes two apps: PEP for parents and PEP Kids for kids. This policy covers both apps and this website. Questions go to support@playearnsplay.com.

What we collect

From parents, in PEP:

DataWhy
Your first name and the family's nameShown to your family, for example when you answer a request
Email addressSigning in. With Sign in with Apple you can hide it behind a relay address
Account and family IDsKeeping your family's data together
A push notification tokenTelling you when a kid wants to cash in steps

About kids, in PEP Kids:

DataWhy
First name, entered by a parentShowing whose phone it is
Daily step totalWorking out how many minutes they've earned
Minutes used today on limited appsWorking out how much time is left
Requests to cash in extra steps (minutes and steps)Letting a parent answer
Minutes played on a parent's iPhone during a hand-overAdding them to the kid's day
The goal and limit a parent setsApplying the family's rules
A push notification tokenTelling them when a parent answers
The device type (iPhone or iPad), the PEP Kids version, when it last checked in, whether Screen Time is on, how many apps are limited and where steps come fromShowing a parent that their kid's iPhone is set up and working. Only the latest check-in is kept

PEP Kids reads steps from the iPhone's motion sensor and Apple Health. Only the day's total leaves the device. Health data is never used for advertising and never shared.

What we don't collect

  • Location, contacts, photos, birthdays or voice.
  • Which apps or websites a kid uses. Screen Time keeps those choices on the device as tokens that only the device can read.
  • A kid's age. PEP may ask iOS for an age range to decide which setup steps to show. The answer stays on the device and is never stored or uploaded.
  • Analytics or advertising identifiers. Neither app includes analytics or ad SDKs.

This website sets no cookies and loads nothing from other companies.

Who can see it

  • Your family: parents see every kid in the family. A kid sees their own steps, time and requests.
  • Service providers: we store data with Google Firebase (sign-in, database and server code) and send notifications through Apple's Push Notification service. Apple also provides Sign in with Apple and checks that requests come from the real apps. They process data only to run these services for us.
  • Nobody else. We don't sell data or share it for advertising. We'd disclose it only if the law required us to.

Kids' privacy

A kid's PEP Kids profile exists only because a parent created it, and it can only be paired from that parent's phone. We collect just what the app needs to count steps and time. A parent can see, change or delete their kid's data in PEP at any time, or ask us to by email.

Keeping and deleting data

We keep data while your family uses PEP, except:

  • The family's activity feed (cash-ins, hand-overs and goals reached) covers 30 days. Older entries are deleted automatically.
  • A cash-in request that isn't answered by midnight expires, and so do extra steps that weren't cashed in.

You can also delete data yourself:

  • Removing a kid deletes their record, requests and pairing codes, and unpairs their iPhone.
  • Deleting your account in Settings removes your account. If you're the family's only parent, the whole family is deleted, including every kid's data.
  • Unpairing a kid's iPhone removes that phone's sign-in and device data.

Security

Data travels encrypted. Access rules mean only members of a family can read its data, and only parents can change rules or answer requests.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects what we collect about kids, we'll tell parents in the app first.
